The paper describes the reservoir study and the implementation of the miscible gas schemes for three pinnacle reef light oil reservoirs in the Nisku formation in the Brazeau River area, Alberta, Canada. Laboratory miscibility studies indicated the oils are miscible with dry gas at pressures higher than 35,000 kPa. Reservoir simulations, using a black oil simulator, were used to analyse the high pressured gas schemes. The study concluded that the miscible flood schemes were both technically and economically feasible. As a result, high pressure natural gas injection is being implemented in all three pools. 8 refs.
