CO/sub 2/ flood performance evaluation for the Cornell unit, Wasson San Andres field
A numerical reservoir simulator has been used to predict CO/sub 2/ enhanced oil recovery performance for the Cornell Unit, Wasson San Andres Field in Yoakum County, Texas. The processes examined are a straight CO/sub 2/ slug followed by continuous water injection and an alternative CO/sub 2/ water (WAG) process, again followed by continuous water injection. Work which employed a no-cross-flow stratification model of the pay at Wasson suggested that a straight CO/sub 2/ slug process would be preferable to a WAG process. On the other hand, work done using a stratification model, which allowed intrazone cross-flow, indicated that recovery could be significantly improved for a given size CO/sub 2/ slug by means of a WAG process. Final process selection has not been made, however, and will be influenced by other economic parameters as well as the oil recovery performance. 8 refs.
