Kennedy Space Center demographic and land use study
A Launch Area Demographic and Land Use Study has been performed for use with real-time accident analyses during launches of the space shuttle from Kennedy Space Center (KSC) at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The primary focus of the project has been to develop a safety analysis data base consisting of population, land use, and transportation information, and to incorporate the data base into the NUS Geographical Information System. The data can be readily modified to accommodate a variety of launch conditions as well as necessary updates of the data base in the future. This report contains descriptions of all data sources used, interpretation methods and process documentation, as well as a discussion of the data analysis and formatting for input into the GIS. All data used are presented in tabular and graphic form in the report, and are stored on computer tapes.
