This paper reports viable reaction pathways for the stoichiometric transformation of two CO ligands on CpFe(CO)/sub 3//sup +/ (1) (Cp = eta/sup 5/-C/sub 5/H/sub 5/) selectively to the C/sub 2/ organic compounds ethane, ethylene, methyl (or ethyl) acetate, or acetaldehyde.
