This hearing was to investigate the problems associated with the storage and transportation of liquefied energy gases, both liquefied petroleum gas, LPG, and liquefied natural gas, LNG. LPG, consisting mainly of propane is especially important in northern New England to heat homes and commercial establishments. Much of New England's LPG is supplied through the Newington, NH, facility near Portsmouth, by truck and railroad deliveries directly to customers.
