Energy research for the farm: an overview. Agriculture information bulletin
The Agriculture Information Bulletin (AIB) provides a general overview of agricultural research activities in the area of energy as it relates to farming and ranching. It is an awareness document that tells generally what is being done and what has been accomplished largely during the 1970's in significant areas of agricultural research funded wholly or partially by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and State governments, unless otherwise stated. It is written for agricultural leaders, practitioners, farmers, and ranchers--all who advise about farming or who actually till the soil. The AIB is not intended as a how-to publication, nor is its purpose to include all examples of ARS research. Every effort was made, however, to discuss briefly those State and Federal research projects that represent research on energy and fuel for the farm. For those who wish to follow up in more depth, the AIB includes a reference section keyed to the text.
