Discrete sine-Gordon equations

Various discretizations of the sine--Gordon equationare studied. Hirota's discretization scheme is extended and two alternative discretization schemes are constructed. The associated soliton solutions, Baecklund transformations, conservation laws, and the inverse scattering equations are obtained.
