Laser-driven component of self-generated magnetic fields

Our experimental data indicate that for metallic targets the self-generated magnetic field consists of two parts, one part originating from a laser-driven electron current, and the second due to the plasma-surrounding gas interaction. These conclusions differ from those suggested recently by Drouet et al. We believe our model for the origin of these fields to be an accurate description of the processes taking place.
