NGC 2242 - a newly-discovered planetary nebula

Journal Article · · Publ. Astron. Soc. Pac.; (United States)
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1086/131951· OSTI ID:6461167
The nebula NGC 2242 is found to be a previously unknown planetary nebula. Its emission-line fluxes and a finding chart are presented. The nebula is found to have very high ionization and high temperature (Te = 25,000 K). The oxygen/hydrogen abundance ratio, derived by assuming a constant argon/oxygen ratio, is rather low (O/H = 0.00008) and is consistent with the high electron temperature. 12 references.
