Monolithic ceramic capacitors for use in high-voltage energy-storage applications

A monolithic ceramic capacitor capable of peak discharge currents of over 2100 A has been developed. The miniature capacitor will replace other high-voltage energy storage capacitors, usually mylar or reconstituted mica. Because production problems were minor and next assembly failures were virtually nonexistent, the monolithic ceramic capacitor is an excellent alternative to traditional capacitors especially where size is of major concern.
