Fluid-bed conversion of UF/sub 6/ to UO/sub 2/

A dry process for the conversion of UF/sub 6/ to UO/sub 2/ is described which has been developed on a commercial scale for nuclear fuel production. The properties of the UO/sub 2/ powder are slightly different from those of precipitated and calcined powder, but the fuel pellets show very similar sintering behavior and irradiation performance.
