Inclusive production of. pi. and rho/sup 0/ mesons in r/sup +/p interactions at 32 GeV/c

We report and discuss experimental data on the inclusive cross sections and inclusive distributions of ..pi../sup +/, ..pi../sup -/, and rho/sup 0/ mesons, ..gamma.. rays, and rho/sup 0/ mesons in ..pi../sup +/p interactions at 32 GeV/c. The total inclusive cross sections for these particles are s(..pi../sup +/) = 59.7 +- 0.5 mb, s(..pi../sup -/) = 30.7 +- 0.4 mb, s(..pi../sup 0/) = 38 +- 9 mb, ..gamma..) = 86.4 +- 3.5 mb, and s(rho/sup 0/) = 5.9 +- 1.2 mb. Rough estimates are obtained for the cross sections for h and f mesons. The inclusive spectra are compared in detail with ..pi../sup +/p data at other energies, with K/sup +/p, K/sup -/p, and p-barp experiments at 32 GeV/c, and with various theoretical models.
