This book presents a framework for the establishment of an energy marketplace where electric energy is treated as a commodity which can be bought, sold, and traded in accordance with its time and space varying values and costs. The framework is based on the novel use of ''spot prices.'' It offers engineers and economists the first comprehensive model of a pricing scheme addressing local, state and federal demands for a workable method for the efficient pricing of electricity in a regulated environment. In addition, the book provides for workable solutions to problems associated with deregulation of power systems and wheeling of electricity.
