Statfjord field

Conference · · Norwegian Petrol. Soc. Jurassic Northern North Sea Symp.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6450582
The Statfjord field structure is an elongate westerly tilted block bounded on the east by a normal down-to-the- east fault system. The Jurassic beds dip gently westward at an average of 6/sup 0/ to 8/sup 0/ beneath the Late Kimmerian Unconformity. The total displacement across the east- bounding fault system is at least 5,000 to 6,000 ft at Triassic level. The stratigraphy of Statfjord field is remarkably consistent. Only within the Jurassic section, particularly at or just below the Kimmerian Unconformity, are there marked differences in the thickness of units. Lithotypes also remain fairly constant throughout the field. The Statfjord field oil accumulation is controlled both stratigraphically and structurally. The accumulation extends for at least 23 km northeast to southwest; the average width of the field is 4 km. The proved productive area of the Middle Jurassic reservoir is approx. 16,000 acres with a gross oil column of 830 ft. The area of the Lower Jurassic reservoir is approx. 3,000 acres with a speculative gross oil column of 800 ft.
