Nonlinear structural system modelling

A model is proposed for nonlinear, harmonic generating structures. The model represents response at a specific frequency as a function of excitation at all frequencies. The model can be identified using a stationary random vibration experiment, and once identified, the model can be used to predict structural response to random excitation. The results of analyses performed on data obtained during a laboratory experiment are presented. The results demonstrate the feasibility of system identification and show that the model reasonably represents the behavior of certain nonlinear systems.
