Temperature-dependent electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra of the -CH/sub 2/-C(OH)-CH/sub 2/- radical in ..gamma..-irradiated poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) powder at 9.2 GHz have been measured between 298 and 385 K. The spectral changes have been successfully simulated by the modified Bloch equations using a two-jump model with interconversion between two ..beta.. hyperfine splittings, presumably associated with a torsional motion of chain segments. 2 figures.
