Hypernuclear interactions and the binding energies of. lambda. and. lambda lambda. hypernuclei

By use of variational calculations a reasonable hadronic description is obtained of the s-shell hypernuclei, of /sup 9//sub ..lambda../Be, and of the well depth, with ..lambda..N forces which are consistent with ..lambda..p scattering and which are quite strongly spin-dependent, with reasonable TPE ..lambda..NN forces and with strongly repulsive dispersive-type ..lambda..NN forces. For the latter we also consider a spin-dependent version which is somewhat favored by our analysis. /sup 9//sub ..lambda../Be is treated as a 2..cap alpha..+..lambda.. system and is significantly overbound, approx. = MeV, if only ..cap alpha cap alpha.. and ..cap alpha lambda.. potentials are used. An ..cap alpha cap alpha lambda.. potential obtained from the ..lambda..NN forces nicely accounts for this overbinding. The ..lambda lambda.. hypernuclei /sub ..lambda..//sub ..lambda..//sup 6/He and /sub ..lambda..//sub ..lambda..//sup 10/Be are treated as ..cap alpha..+2..lambda.. and 2..cap alpha..+2..lambda.. systems. Use of the /sub ..lambda..//sub ..lambda..//sup 10/Be event gives approx. =1.5 MeV too little binding for /sub ..lambda..//sub ..lambda..//sup 6/He. The /sup 1/S/sub 0/ ..lambda../sub ..lambda../ potential obtained from /sup 10//sub ..lambda..//sub ..lambda../Be is quite strongly attractive, comparable to the ..lambda..N and also to the NN potential without OPE.
