Absolute calibration of a flame photometric detector to volatile sulfur compounds at sub-part-per-million level

Permeation tubes were used to obtain an absolute calibration of flame photometric detector (FPD) to sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, and carbon disulfide. Response data was obtained from 0.001 to 10 ppm. for each compound. Preliminary experiments with FPD as an ambient air sulfur dioxide monitor indicated that the detector has potential utility as a continuous monitoring device.
