Kinetics of bed fracturing around mine workings

A failure of the bed near the walls of the workings of a mine away from the face occurs gradually over time and in this paper the authors take a kinetic approach to evaluating its development. The influence of certain mine engineering factors on the pattern of bed fracturing is discussed. The effect of the depth of mining is shown. Cracking occurs in the portion of the seam at the face near the ground at some distance from it on the interface between soft and hard coal. The density of the fractured rocks and their response affect the bed fracturing near the stope face.
