A windmill or solar plant for generating electric energy is described which has a transmission in the form of an epicyclic gear transmission with sun wheel and planet wheels, the sun wheel of which is connected to the generator shaft, and the planet wheels being coupled with a regulator motor having two directions of rotation as well as a variable speed of rotation, the ring gear being driven directly or indirectly by the windmill or driving shaft.
