DyNi[sub 2]B[sub 2]C with [Tc] [approximately] 6 K, less than the Neel temperature T[sub N], is particularly interesting. Crystal electric field splitting locks the magnetic moments in the ab-plane at low temperature and a series of metamagnetic transitions is observed with increasing field below T[sub N]. Detailed measurements of in-plane magnetization, magnetic susceptibility and resistivity of DyNi[sub 2]B[sub 2]C single crystals have been carried out in order to investigate the anisotropic interplay between superconductivity and the magnetic phases.
