The MELCOR severe accident code version 1.8.4QK has been employed to calculate the timing of events and source terms released into the environment for several hypothetical severe accidents as Unit 1 of the Juragua VVER 440-213 plant, located near Cienfuegos, Cuba. Different severe accidents were simulated, and results from two of them are presented here. The two accidents presented are a station blackout and a large loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) guillotine break in one cold leg concurrent with loss of all power. For both accidents, core safety injection systems, feedwater systems, and sprays are not available. Only the four passive accumulators are operational.
