Fort St. Vrain improvement program plan

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/6440564· OSTI ID:6440564
The restraints are identified which inhibit the Fort St. Vrain (FSV) Nuclear Power Plant, a high temperature gas cooled reactor (HTGR), from achieving full power operation with high availability, and described, in an overall program plan, the actions necessary to overcome these restraints. The report summarizes what is currently being done, and what should be done to resolve the defined restraints. To a large extent, this report recommends studies and investigations which should be undertaken in order to identify specific system, component and administrative changes which will remove or mitigate these restraints. Although some of the hardware related technical aspects are complex, the authors of this report consider that all of the existing restraints can be overcome.
