Method for shot point analysis of seismic reflection signals
A method for conducting a marine seismic survey along a line of exploration is described, comprising the steps of: (a) traversing the line of exploration with a seismic survey system having an acoustic energy source, an array of spaced-apart receivers, and a recording system, (b) firing the acoustic energy source at shot points along the line of exploration, (c) recording the seismic reflections signals received by one of the receivers for each of the shot points, (d) selecting a common wavelet in the recorded seismic signals, (e) measuring the amplitudes of the common wavelet, (f) comparing the measured amplitudes to identify a trend from shot point to shot point over the plurality of shot points in an actual value of a seismic survey parameter.
