CERT: Indian power over New Mexico's energy resources

The largest private owners of proven and potential energy resources in the state of New Mexico are the Indian tribes. The Council of Energy Resource Tribes (CERT), a group of 25 Indian tribes holding the greatest proportion of Indian-resource-land, reports holdings of close to 50% of the US's recoverable uranium, as well as large coal, petroleum, and natural gas resources. CERT's energy exploitation policies are discussed. (JMT)
