Photodisintegration cross sections for deuteron were measured for photon energies of 0.8[lt][ital E][sub [gamma]][lt]4.2 GeV and center-of-mass angles 37[degree][lt][theta][sub cm][lt]143[degree] in experiments NE8 and NE17 at SLAC. The energy dependence and angular distributions are compared with the predictions of meson exchange calculations, consittuent counting rules, and reduced nuclear amplitudes. At [theta][sub cm]=90[degree] and 53[degree], the data are not inconsistent with constituent counting or reduced nuclear amplitudes. At 37[degree], the energy dependence is in strong disagreement with these models.
