Accidents will happen: the case against nuclear power
- eds.
An earlier version of this book was published in 1972 under the title The Case for a Nuclear Moratorium and was updated in 1976 under a similar title: Countdown to a Nuclear Moratorium. This latest update contains an introduction by Ralph Nader, and 19 contributions by as many different authors under the following categories: (1) visions vs reality (2 papers); (2) nuts and bolts (4 papers); (3) what we can't see is hurting us (3 papers); (4) the heart of the issue: money (4 papers); (5) the solar age has begun (3 papers); and (6) it's up to us (3 papers). Mr. Nader says, that in the coming months there will be ever stronger public awareness that nuclear power can be replaced by energy conservation, advanced ways of using conventional fuels, and the arrival of increasingly economical solar technologies. Ultimately, he says, the struggle over nuclear power will be decided in the political arena at the local, state, and national levels.
