A brief summary is given of the Iris Images, Inc. solar installation. The solar energy is used to heat photographic process water in a commercial photo-processing laboratory located in Mill Valley, California. The solar system was installed in the new building during the Spring of 1976. The two collector banks are mounted on the flat roof of the building with a total aperture area of 640 square feet. Both of the collector banks were site fabricated. The absorber plates for one bank are aluminum, as manufactured by Sunbrust Solar Energy, Inc. The other absorber plates are copper and were manufactured by Solar Development, Inc. Copper tubing is used for the fluid passages in both collectors. Auxiliary heating of the process water is provided by a gas fired storage type water heater. The solar system has been fully instrumented for data acquisition and is included in the National Solar Data Network.
