Solar envelope zoning: Application to the city planning process: Los Angeles case study

This grant provided for the study of the applicability of the solar envelope to the city of Los Angeles. The concept was developed and presented by the University of Southern California, School of Architecture, under a previous grant from the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI). A review of the zoning implications of the University of Southern California report is included. The City of Los Angeles was awarded this contract by SERI to undertake a study of solar envelope zoning in the city. This contract was a subcontract of SERI's obligations with the Department of Energy. A special team from the City Planning Department, City Attorney's Office, and the Office of the Mayor was formed to carry out this project.
