Thermoelectric power measurements of the early stages of {delta}{prime} precipitation in Al-Li alloys

Journal Article · · Scripta Metallurgica et Materialia
Thermoelectric power (TEP) measurements have proved to be a very good tool to follow the microstructural evolution of metallic materials. In particular, it is very sensitive to the solid solution concentration and to ordering development. In this work the authors have studied the microstructural evolution of Al-Li alloys at around room temperature and at 180 C through thermoelectric power measurements and X-ray powder diffraction. Different stages can be clearly observed. The results are interpreted in terms of the Khachaturyan model.
