Public health assessment for Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia. Region 4. CERCLIS No. GA7170023694

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6434873

The Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB), approximately 5 miles southeast of Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia, was placed on the Environmental Protection Agency's National Priorities List in December 1989. Past waste disposal practices at the installation have resulted in soil contamination in some of the areas designated as potential sources of contamination (PSCs) 1-24. Contaminants have moved through the soil and are now being detected in groundwater on base. The food chain, primarily fish and game, may be affected if surface soil, sediment, and surface water at multiple PSCs on base are contaminated. To date, sampling of those environmental media is insufficient, therefore the potential effect on the food chain can not be evaluated.
