Hydrogen sulfide abatement with hydrogen peroxide in geothermal operations

Conference · · Trans. - Geotherm. Resour. Counc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6427137
Hydrogen peroxide is being used in hydrogen sulfide abatement processes in geothermal well drilling and power plant operations. The processes presently in use are reviewed and possible future uses in stacking, well venting and treatment of other geothermal fluids are suggested. The differences in the operating conditions and equipment for treating sulfide in steam condensate and steam are emphasized for these two treatments. In treating both steam and steam condensate, high sulfide abatement levels of 90% or greater are being readily attained.
