The publication is offered as an informational guide - a primer - for Marylanders interested in obtaining a basic understanding of Alternative Energy Generation Technologies potentially available in the state. An attempt is made to assess the technical and economic feasibility and environmental impacts of each technology. The Guidebook expands upon the Renewable Resources section of the Maryland Energy Administration's Energy in Maryland report, to be published in January of 1987, and the Power Plant Cumulative Environmental Impact Report, published in January of 1986. The sources and technologies addressed in the Guidebook include alcohol fuels, ground water heat pumps, municipal solid waste, small-scale hydropower, solar, wind, and residential and industrial wood.
