Self-propelled traction vehicle with low fuel consumption while idling
In combination with a variable-speed thermal prime mover, a cooling system is described for supplying a coolant to the prime mover. Main and auxiliary electric power generating means are mechanically driven by the prime mover. A main load is supplied with electric current from the main generating means. An auxiliary load comprises variable-speed, motor driven fans and blowers for supplying cooling air to the cooling system, the generating means, and the main load, respectively. The fan and blower driving motors are selectively connected for energization to the output of the auxiliary generating means. Controller means include the controller for regulating the power output of the main generating means, and means include the controller for selecting and controlling the particular fan and blower motors to be energized as required for cooling the prime mover.
