Search for extended structures near the radio sources 3C 120 and 3C 273

Fields in the vicinity of the radio sources 3C 273 and 3C 120 have been observed at lambda = 3.9, 7.6, and 8.2 cm with the ratan-600 radio telescope over a wide dynamic range in brightness temperature. One of the two features in 3C 273 observed at Effelsberg is confirmed; about 8' from the quasar, this feature is in the same position angle as the optical jet. New, extended (roughly-equal1') features have been discovered on either side of 3C 120 at a distance of roughly-equal1'.3; their position angle is close to that of the superluminal components. If the features observed are indeed associated with the objects 3C 273 and 3C 120, the energy stored in them would be several orders of magnitude greater than the energy in the nuclear components of these sources.
