The crystals of a new phase, Ba{sub 2}Mg{sub 6}Al{sub 28}O{sub 50}, recently confirmed to exist in the system BaO-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}-MgO, were grown by the floating zone method, and its crystal structure was determined by using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The space group was P{bar 6}m2 with lattice parameters a = 5.638 {angstrom} and c = 31.983 {angstrom}. Structure refinement revealed stacking of conduction layers of the {beta}-alumina-type (BaO) separated by an extended spinel block ((Al,Mg){sub 17}O{sub 24}). This is the same structure with Na{beta}{prime}{prime}{prime}-alumina whose ideal formula is Na{sub 2}O{center_dot}4MgO{center_dot}15Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} (Na{sub 2}Mg{sub 4}Al{sub 30}O{sub 50}).
