Modeling of shock-induced chemistry in nickel-aluminum systems

We report on real-time shock-induced temperature measurements of a Ni-Al powder mixture that indicate exothermic chemical reactivity and a model to describe this reactivity at a hot spot site where rapid thermal diffusion is occurring.
