Fixation of Hanford alkaline radioactive waste liquors by conversion to glass

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6418296
Hanford alkaline waste liquors can be converted to borosilicate or soda-lime glasses. A typical waste glass contains 61.5 weight percent SiO/sub 2/, 8 weight percent B/sub 2/O/sub 3/, 18 weight percent Na/sub 2/O, 2 weight percent Li/sub 2/O, 0.3 weight percent Cr/sub 2/O/sub 3/, and 0.2 weight percent SO/sub 3/. Chemical durabilities are comparable to those of commercial soda-lime glasses.
