Method of storage and transportation of liquefied gas

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6415188
Method of storing and transporting a liquefied gas to a terminal or ship-loading facility is described. The boil-off vapors from the loading line and at the storage site are recovered by absorption. The storage site may be located some distance from the pier to other cargo loading point, where the incoming liquefied gas at ambient temperatures is chilled to its atmoshperic boiling point for storage in a tank. Cooling and pumping equipment transfer the liquefied gas to the remote secondary tank or ship- cargo facility. The boil-off from all phases of the operations (that is, from the storage tank, the cooling apparatus, and the secondary tank) is absorbed in a suitable absorbent for storage at the storage site. Thereafter, the stored solution may be processed to recover the liquefied gas for recirculation to the chilling system and storage tank. (12 claims)
