Domestic market keeps Italy's industry thriving

Italy's offshore sector has a small but steady domestic production sector. This provides contracts for the development of major engineering and support organizations. With onshore supplies and major import contracts from Algeria, Europe and the USSR, the Italian state energy groups under the ENI umbrella are well into constructing a national gas supply system. The domestic market will be linked to an increasingly integrated European network and its future looks secure. Offshore oil and gas production is discussed.
