As political and economic reforms proceed in Eastern Europe, opportunities for revitalizing its infrastructure abound. A major part of their revitalization will undoubtedly include upgrading power generation plants and providing pollution control equipment. The paper discusses the trade missions undertaken to Poland and Hungary, joint ventures between US and Eastern Bloc countries, the energy inefficiency of the past, nuclear power plants under construction, financing projects, congressional support and market strategy.
