This work reviews well-known aspects of predicting reservoir well performance and presents new concepts which have been developed. High velocity flow and variation in the pressure function have been described. The following conclusions were made based on the results of this study: (1) a dimensionless solution of the radical flow equation has been developed; (2) the Vogel inflow performance relation has been given physical meaning; (3) general expressions for dimensionless pseudopressure of oil wells are developed based on the straight-line pressure functions; (4) an approximation of dimensionless pseudopressure for oil wells producing at saturated or undersaturated reservoir pressures is the original Vogel expression for dimensionless rate; (5) the Evinger-Muskat method for predicting oil well performance at saturated conditions is reviewed; (6) the Evinger-Muskat method for calculating oil pseudopressure is applicable to transient well test analysis; (7) a general procedure is given for analyzing multirate tests performed on gas and oil wells; and (8) Standing's method for correcting the Vogel relation for damaged and stimulated wells is discussed. 16 references.
