Influence of the nature of the equatorial and axial ligands on the catalytic properties of coordination compounds of nickel with. cap alpha. -dioximes

The process of the liquid-phase oxidation of Tetralin by molecular oxygen in the presence of coordination compounds of nickel(III) has been studied. Data for bis(dimethylglyoximato)nickel(II) have been obtained for comparison. A quantum-chemical calculation of the nickel dioximates and the small molecular systems H/sub 2/O/sub 2/, HO/sub 2//sup ./, HO/sub 2//sup -/, and O/sub 2/ has been carried out. The kinetic parameters are in good agreement with the data on the electronic structure of the complexes and the oxidizing agents.
