Reflectivity and conductivity of YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
We obtain the a-b plane infrared conductivity of YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ from temperature-dependent reflectivity spectra of crystals and films with T/sub c/approx. =92 K. The normal state is characterized by a free-carrier band with an enhanced low-frequency mass and a frequency-dependent scattering rate, which indicate coupling to an excitation spectrum with a characteristic frequency scale of ..omega../sub c/approx. <700 cm/sup -1/ and coupling strength of lambdaapprox. =2 to 3.
