Strength of cementation is estimated from well logs

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6405860
This article discusses the use of well log data for estimating strength of cementation in sands. It could be of value for completion design and operations in areas where sand production is a problem. Strength of cementation is calculated from the value for shear modulus under zero-load conditions; a shear modulus value can be calculated using acoustic and density logs. This article offers a mechanic's approach to develop the conversion from shear modulus to strength of cementation.
