Using a hadronic transport model for relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the author analyses simultaneously the average transverse momentum of nucleons and pions in the reaction plane as a function of rapidity. The transverse momentum distributions of nucleons and pions are correlated to each other in central collisions, indicating the flow effect of baryon resonances. While in peripheral collisions the two distributions are anti-correlated due to the strong shadowing effect of the spectators.
