Simplifying reboiler entrainment calculations

A method has been worked out to easily estimate the possibility and severity of entrainment and, hence, determine proper shell diameter of kettle-type reboilers. These reboilers are widely used in the chemical and refining industries. To minimize liquid entrainment in the exit vapor is the main difficulty in the design of the reboiler. An example is presented which demonstrates the use of the simplified method.
