US industrial thermal energy storage program

Three major programs described to reduce oil and gas consumption in industry include in-plant reuse of industrial reject heat, external reuse of industrial reject heat, and the use of alternate fuels. The US Industrial Thermal Energy Storage Program has demonstration and/or technology transfer projects underway in each of these areas. These projects, the organization of the US Industrial Thermal Energy Storage Program, and future program directions are described with some specifics cited in the food processing and paper industries.
