Electric field and electron density measurements in the equatorial E-region
The results of a rocket-borne experiment to study the role of localized electric fields in the generation of plasma density irregularities through cross-field instability and the two-stream instability mechanism are presented. The double probe technique was used to measure the electric field along and perpendicular to the spin axis of the rocket. The record of the data channels for an altitude of 92 km is shown and discussed. The altitude profile of the electric and induction fields perpendicular to both the spin axis and the geomagnetic field is presented, and fluctuations in the electric field along the rocket spin axis at different altitudes are shown. The (V sub B - V sub A) output for different altitude ranges is described.
