Further consequences of the excluded bound state S/sub 1/2/. cap alpha. -N interaction in /sup 6/He and /sup 6/Li

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
The implications of representing the S/sub 1/2/ ..cap alpha..-N interaction by an attractive potential with an excluded bound state, rather than by a repulsive potential, are explored with three-body models of the /sup 6/He and /sup 6/Li ground states. After an introduction to the underlying theory, comparisons are made between the predictions of the two models for /sup 6/He ..beta.. decay, the shell structure of /sup 6/He and /sup 6/Li, and the ..cap alpha..-deuteron properties of /sup 6/Li. A major conclusion is that the appropriate choice for the S/sub 1/2/ ..cap alpha..-N interaction should be extractable from electron coincidence experiments of the /sup 6/Li(e,e'd)/sup 4/He or /sup 6/Li(e,e'..cap alpha..)/sup 2/H type.
